Entertainment: After Tandav, Bombay Begums came into controversies, asked to stop streaming. Read full story.

After Tandav, Bombay Begums is in trouble. The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) on thursday asked Netflix to stop the streaming of Bombay Begums for inappropriately depicting children in the series. Legal notice has been sent to Netflix and Netflix has been asked to send a detailed report within 24 hours, otherwise they will take legal action against the video streaming platform.

Pooja Bhatt starrer web series Bombay Begums was released on 8th of March,2021 on Netflix. Just after the release, this series came into controversies. It is alleged that this series has portrayed children in a wrong way.

The notice given by NCPCR issued a statement and said -“from normalising causal sex by minors, webseries are now normalising the use of drugs among children.”

In the notice, it was also said that “Netflix should take extra precaution while streaming any content in respect of the children or for the children and shall also refrain themselves from getting into such things”.

Till now, Netflix has not given any statement regarding this topic.

This notice was issued following complaints by two twitter handles named Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj and Gemsofbollywood.

Bombay Begums is an Indian webseries written and directed by Alankrita Shrivastava. The series revolved around five women who live in Mumbai. All try to fight patriarchy and try to find happiness and success in their lives.

In this series , Pooja bhatt, Shahana Goswami, Amruta Shubhash, Plabita Borthakur and Adhya Anand are seen in lead roles.

OTT platform came into government scanner. Last month, the government introduced many rules for the content published or posted on OTT or social media sites.

Few months ago, two webseries Tandav and Mirzapur came into controversies. After this, government has taken it seriously and made many rules.

However, Bombay Begums can be taken off from Netflix or either they can cut that particular scene.
